Bailey G. Abreit, author
Bailey G. Albreit took piano lessons at a funeral home as a child but never considered funeral directing as a career, online search history notwithstanding. The author also learned to stop telling doctors, no matter when they went through medical school, about having worked on the editorial staff at the National Board of Medical Examiners after learning that, decades later, many physicians are still traumatized by the experience of taking their Boards. Deepest condolences and hearty congratulations to all who endured this ordeal and emerged with an M.D.
Author and spouse live in a Philadelphia rowhouse that has been a work-in-progress for over thirty years—old houses are only completely renovated in the course of a few weeks on television and in works of fiction—and are co-parents to three queer adult children, one of them “unofficially” adopted as an adult. Under the best of circumstances, families are also always works-in-progress.
About 25 years ago, I began posting fanfiction online in a serialized format, and quickly came to love both the process of enticing my readers with cliffhangers and the back-and-forth interaction with readers who swelled my Yahoo group (remember those?) to over 6000 members.
But that wasn’t my first taste of writing serialized fiction—way back in high school, a friend and I began each writing our own silly stories starring thinly-veiled versions of our other friends (and ourselves, since no one had told us yet that author-inserts were a no-no!). Our readers passed these handwritten story installments around when we were supposed to be paying attention in Algebra class, and it’s amazing that we were never caught!
I decided to return to the world of serialized fiction because the times feel especially ripe for it. Our phones are in our hands almost constantly. Why not use your phone to read the next chapter in a serialized cozy paranormal? After the first two chapters, this content will no longer be free, but the subscription rate is very reasonable—only $4/month for two and sometimes three chapters (I’ll be posting a chapter every two weeks).
Why serialization?
If you wish to send me your email any time before January of 2027 (baileygalbreit@gmail.com), then after the last chapter is posted, you will receive a variety of perks, depending on how long you have subscribed. For instance, those who have subscribed for 7-9 months will each receive (if you share your mailing address with me, something I will NEVER share with anyone else) a signed HARDBACK copy of Undertaken, which is a $30 value ($26 cover price + $4 shipping/handling). These subscribers will also receive a variety of single-use coupon codes good for discounts on additional hardback copies (gifts for your friends!) and for the Undertaken ebook, which, added to the value of the book, will total more than the cost of the subscription.
Those subscribing for 6 months or less who provide an email will receive just the single-use coupon codes, though the coupons will always amount to MORE than what you have paid for your subscription. Even if you only subscribe for the last month before the book release ($4) and zip through all of the chapters in that time, you will receive MORE than $4 in coupons. How can you beat a deal like that? Plus you’ll be in on the ground floor when I begin to post chapters from the sequel two weeks after the first book is released.
